Uhg, my room has an infestation of bed bugs. They are tiny, like ticks, and live in the folds of the bed and cracks of the bed frame. They are lightning fast and they are afraid or threatened by light, so they vanish when you turn the lights on. They eat you alive. They’ll go in under your cloths while you sleep and leave little scabs. Sometimes I have blood on my sheets. None of the conventional things to get rid of bugs—like mosquito spray, wearing cloths, or turning on a strong fan, will thwart them. You have to thoroughly clean the room, open all the windows, take all the bedding and frame outside and let the sun bleach it. Its kinda like getting rid of gremlins. The maid seems to have taken offense to the idea that I have beg bugs (which they call “con ran” or “con dep”). I’m not sure why—she doesn’t normally clean my room—I do—but she’s being told to clean the room now to get red of them, and maybe she doesn’t want to be bothered. She keeps telling me its ants from the garbage can—but I put my garbage out every morning—and the type of ants in the garbage don’t bite people. They are the harmless, tiny little clean-up crew ants and appear in seconds after you drop a crumb, and carry it off. Anyway, if the cleaning works, it will be nice to get some sleep again. They keep my up much of the night because the bites itch too much. I could only get good sleep after 5:30am when the sun comes up and they scatter back into their hiding places.
